UFCU Partner Foundation Communities Offers Free Tax Prep

UFCU is proud to partner with Foundation Communities, a local homegrown nonprofit dedicated to providing affordable, attractive homes and free on-site support services to thousands of families in Central Texas. One of the invaluable services they provide is free tax prep through Prosper Tax Help.

Their IRS-certified tax preparers provide free tax filing to thousands of individuals each year, helping them get the maximum tax refund. They also help file tax returns for prior years, respond to IRS letters, and complete ITIN applications.

Preparing tax returns can be difficult to navigate for many taxpayers. What’s more, some organizations can take advantage of unaware consumers and charge them unnecessary fees for services they might not actually need.

If you’re struggling with tax preparation, visit ProsperTaxHelp.org to set a complimentary appointment any time through April 15. Prosper Tax Help service is open to anyone who qualifies. This free service is available to individuals who make less than $60,000 per year and households of 2-4 that make less than $85,000 per year. You need not be a UFCU Member or a Foundation Communities resident to qualify for this service.

If you meet the income requirements, they can help you plan for a bigger return next year, and counsel you on what to do with that tax return when you get it. If you do not meet the income requirements, they’ll be happy to help by providing a list of other local free or low-cost tax preparation resources. Services are offered in English, Spanish, and other languages as well.
