New Board Officers Elected at University Federal Credit Union

Austin, TEXAS, May 22, 2017 — University Federal Credit Union (UFCU) has elected a new slate of officers to lead its board of directors.

John A. Martin, of Houston, a member of the board for more than six years, was named the new chairman, succeeding two-year veteran Ellen E. Wood. Martin is vice president of the Houston business unit of Austin Commercial construction company.

Dr. D. Michael Harris, managing member of public accounting firm Harris Queza & Company and former professor of accounting at St. Edward’s University, was elected vice chair.

Laura J. Kilcrease was elected secretary. Kilcrease is a technology entrepreneur who recently was named CEO of Alberta Innovates Corp., an Alberta, Canada organization that provides government funding of research in the western Canadian province.

The board’s new treasurer is Cale McDowell, an attorney and partner at Jackson Walker LLP specializing in corporate and securities law.

Others serving on the board include Thomas J. Ardis, President, SUMMAWeb;  Dr. Leslie L. Blanke, Adjunct Professor of Economics, Concordia University;  Adriana R. Cruz, President, Greater San Marcos Partnership;  Dr. Maninder (Mini) Kahlon, Vice Dean for Strategy and Partnerships, Dell Medical School; Dr. David W. Niesel, Vice President and Dean, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, UTMB;  and Ellen E. Wood, President and CEO, vcfo.
