Hispanic Chamber Names UFCU Corporation of the Year

Austin, TEXAS, October 17, 2022—The Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GAHCC) has named UFCU its 2022 Corporation of the Year. The presentation was made during the GAHCC’s Celebrando Awards Gala, where hundreds of Austin leaders gathered to celebrate Latino community leaders who positively influence and enrich our nation and society.

“We are tremendously humbled and honored by this award. Just like the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, UFCU supports the economic success, financial health, and prosperity of Hispanic-owned businesses,” said UFCU CEO and President Michael Crowl. “Our collective mission is to increase opportunities for education, small business, and civic engagement for the Austin-based Hispanic community. We look forward to continuing our partnership with GAHCC to further this shared mission.”

As a long-standing corporate member and advocate of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, UFCU was recognized for its commitment to promoting Hispanic economic success in the Greater Austin area. UFCU has been instrumental in supporting and funding programs like the GAHCC’s Hispanic Austin Leadership (HAL), SmallBizU, and GAHCC Foundation scholarships for Latino students attending Texas colleges.

“In our work to support the Hispanic community, we look for partners that serve as a ladder for individual success,” said UFCU Manager of Social Impact & Community Affairs Monica Maldonado Williams. “We see the Hispanic Chamber as the guiding star of the Latino community, and it’s wonderful to work alongside them. We know it takes all of us to keep our Latino community strong and thriving.”

In addition to working with GAHCC, hundreds of UFCU employees volunteer year-round to support organizations that serve a largely Hispanic client base, such as the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium, Jeremiah Program, and Saint Louise House.
