UFCU’s Financial Advisor Receives CFP® Designation
Austin, TEXAS, May 4, 2016 – University Federal Credit Union (UFCU), Austin’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is pleased to announce that Michael Guthrie, Wealth Advisor, registered through CUSO Financial Services, L.P. (CFS)* at UFCU has been authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board) to use the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CFP® certification marks in accordance with CFP Board certification and renewal requirements. Guthrie has worked at UFCU since 2004 and is responsible for designing, implementing and managing comprehensive financial plans for 300 households with assets totaling $100 million. Guthrie’s financial planning emphasizes helping member’s achieve their financial goals while passing a legacy to their heirs and continuing the planning in a multi-generational relationship.
Guthrie holds Securities Licenses (Series 6, 7, 63, 66) in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, FL, IL, MD, MO, NM, NY, NC, OK, OR, TX, and UT. In addition, he is licensed in the state of Texas for Life Insurance and Long-Term Care Insurance. Guthrie holds a BBA in Finance from Texas State University.
The CFP® marks identify those individuals who have met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of the CFP Board, have successfully completed financial planning coursework and have passed the CFP® Certification Examination covering the following areas: the financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits, and estate planning. CFP® professionals also agree to meet ongoing continuing education requirements and to uphold CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Rules of Conduct and Financial Planning Practice Standards.
